Marathon Oils

Although oil was discovered thousands of years ago, through seeping sand pits and open surface wells and used to seal baskets, in the form of a bitumenous type product, for water carrying etc - it wasn't until the mid 1800s that the basis of oil similar to what we now know was discovered, when a simple drilling rig struck oil below the Earths surface in the US -  and it wasn't until the early 1900s that true lubricants made their way into Industry
